Design. La sindrome dell'influenza

The exhibition "La sindrome dell'influenza" investigated a typical characteristic of Italian design: a capacity for assimilation, combined with a curious approach to the world and a desire to experiment with other languages and cultures in order to launch new projects.
The complexity of this phenomenon was narrated by a multiplicity of voices along the itinerary of the exhibition, which was organized in three sections. In the first section, “L’invenzione del design italiano” (the invention of Italian design), ten contemporary designers illustrated, in as many installations, the history of a master of design from the 1950s and 60s. The second section, “La distruzione creatrice” (creative destruction), dealt with the theme of memory, with projections of interviews of designers who witnessed the crisis of the design world of the 1970s and 80s. The last section focused on the leading manufacturers of Italy's design production, with individual exhibitions. UniFor participated in this section with an installation curated by Pierluigi Cerri, entitled “La precisione del dettaglio” (the precision of details), which illustrated the concept of precision and the ability to establish exact relationships between parts, in a rigorous design approach whereby every element of an object must be coherent with the rules that generated it.
